WC greven: first gold for Melanie Becker

Dutch individual competitor in the pony single class Melanie Becker has won the golden medal at the World Combined Pony Driving Championships in Greven. The silver medal went to German individual driver Franz-Josef Lehmkuhl, bronze was for Suzy Stafford.
 

Becker drove a fantastic nearly double clear round and herewith secured her third place. Suzy Stafford from the US knocked a cone down and had time penalties and this made Melanie climb to the second place. When her compatriot Arjo van Kekem also had several knock downs, it became clear that Melanie Becker is the new World Champion!

None of the 34 single drivers however managed to complete the course with a double clear round. The course had to be driven in galop to be able to make the time allowed.
