Aken: Johnson wint bijproef dressuur

The spectators in Aachen had to miss a number of top four-in-hand drivers in the first Dressage Test, which took place today. Dutch drivers IJsbrand Chardon, Koos de Ronde and Theo Timmerman as well as the Hungarian competitors Zoltan Lázár and Jozsef Dobrovitz, Boyd Exell from Australia and Fredrik Persson from Sweden were missing on the starting list of this non-obligatory Dressage competition.

De Amerikaan Tucker Johnson zette met zijn vierspan Duits en Nederlands gefokte paarden de winnende score van 44.54 strafpunten neer.

Het internationale jurycorps, waarin vier van de vijf WK-juryleden zijn opgenomen, plaatste de Zwitser Daniel Würgler met slechts 0,13 strafpunten verschil op de tweede plaats. Ook de derde positie werd opgeëist door een Amerikaan. Onder toeziend oog van de trainer van de Amerikaanse selectie, de Duitse oud-Wereldkampioen Michael Freund, zette Jimmy Fairclough met zijn span Oostenrijkse en Nederlandse warmbloedruinen een strafpuntentotaal van 46,59 neer.

The international Ground Jury, in which four of the five World Championship judges were represented, placed Switzerland’s Daniel Würgler on the second place with just 0,13 penalty points difference from Johnson. The US was well represented in the Top Three with Jimmy Fairclough taking the third position. Fairclough put down a score of 46,59 penalty points with his team of Austrian and Dutch warm blood geldings. Both Fairclough and Johnson were helped by World Champion Michael Freund from Germany, who is the trainer of the American selection.
