Riesenbeck: Michael Brauchle wins international Driving Derby
Brauchle performed convincingly from the start: “Already in dressage, Michael positively surprised us. He showed nice transitions and has impressed the judges with his expressive leader horses,” said coach Karl-Heinz Geiger. Following a fast performance in the marathon, which he won, Brauchle was able to secure his overall victory in the final obstacle driving competition.
Top favourite Boyd Exell had been unlucky in the marathon when one of his wheeler horses jumped over the trace in the second obstacle, which cost him 20 penalty points. Exell still finished 11th in the Derby and 6th in the World Cup qualification competition.
