Horst: Bram Chardon wins marathon

Bram Chardon fought off his fellow competitors to win the challenging marathon today at the international combined driving competition and Dutch four-in-hand Championships in Horst. Chardon jr. drove a strong and steady round and as a result has climbed to third place in the combined results of the National Championship.

The 23 year-old Bram edged out reigning World Champion Boyd Exell and Koos de Ronde to win this second day of the competition. Koos de Ronde, with his uitstanding performance has taken over the lead for the National Championship with a 4 point jump on IJsbrand Chardon and followed closely by Bram in third. Boyd Exell still leads the international standings with an over 9 point lead in front of Koos de Ronde.

Pair Horses

After his win in the dressage, Martin Hölle extended his lead by also winning the marathon. The Hungarian is followed by Dutch drivers Erik Couwenburg, Antonie ter Harmsel and Tristan Verheijen.

Single Horse

French driver Jean Michel Olive dominated the marathon, beating out Jens Chladek (GER) and Saskia Siebers (NL).  Olive moves to the top of the combined standings followed by dressage winner Marlen Fallak and Siebers in third.

Para Equestrian

Francisa den Elzen in addition to her dressage win also was the best over the six obstacles of the marathon, edging out strong drives by Martje Witvoet and Ernst Bötte. Den Elzen has significantly extended her lead in front of Aad van Marwijk, Ingmar Veneman and Martje Witvoet.
