Izsák: Wilbrord van den Broek wins dressage
After he took over the lead just before the lunch break, Dutch driver Wilbrord van den Broek could keep his first position until the end. He won the dressage phase with a score of 39.49 penalties. He was the only driver who got a score under 40 penalties from the Ground Jury.
Rudolf Pirhofer (AUT) put down one of the best test during the two days and finished on the third place with 42.88. Helping the French team to take the first place in the team standings after dressage, Renaud Vinck finished second with nearly two points difference behind van den Broek.
Among the drivers starting in the afternoon was Bartlomiej Kwiatek(POL), who is expected as one of the biggest favourits of this Championship. He drove an excellent test with impressive extended trots and nice canter but had some mistakes as well and finally earned a score of 43.33, which was enough for the fourth position.
France leads the team standings with 85.82 ahead of Germany with 87.42 and Poland on third place with 89.60 penalty points.
Tomorrow is marathon on the programme starting at 9.00, with eight long and complicated obstacles designed by Gábor Fintha.
