Topolcianky: Three horses out
During the horse inspection this morning of the international driving competition for horse singles, pairs and teams in Topolcianky, Slovakia, three horses were declared ‘not fit to compete’.For the Romanian driver Eduard Bartha the horse inspection unfortunately meant the end of the competition since two out of his three horses did not pass this first part. Austrian four-in-hand driver Ewald Wurm will continue with four horses after his 10-year-old Kladruber gelding Sacramosa Amapola was declared ‘not fit to compete’ by the judges and the veterinarians.
A total number of 68 competitors will start at the beautiful venue of the National Stud Farm in Topolcianky, which successfully hosted the 2013 World Pair Driving Championships.
Besides the international competition, single and pair drivers from Austria, Czech Republic, Hungary, Romania, Switzerland, Germany, Poland and Slovakia will compete in teams for the Donau Alpen Pokal, a special competition which is held in between World Championships for Pairs. The two best results of the combined competition per nation per class will count towards the classification for this competition, which is separate from the CAI competition.
