Kronenberg 2022: Winners are known

The last day of the international driving competition in Kronenberg was also held under the radiant sun. The award ceremony has taken place and that means that this year's winners have been announced.

Koos de Ronde won the cones today, just like yesterday’s marathon. “It went very well today. The dressage was not as good. I used a new horse and he was a bit impressed in the ring. That caused unrest in the dressage. However, in the marathon he really is a tiger and at home he is also doing very well in dressage, so I definitely want to continue using him, but he still needs to get a lot more miles under his belt.”

In the cones Koos went for certainty. “It was all so close together! I wanted to defend my spot and therefore used the experienced Cupido. When Glenn Geerts (BEL) and Benjamin Aillaud (FRA) drove clear, I knew I had to do the same. When IJsbrand made a mistake after that, I climbed up another spot in the standings.”

De Ronde finished second, behind Boyd Exell. IJsbrand Chardon had to settle for third place.

Victories

Marijke Hammink (3* pony four-in-hand) and Peter Zeegers (2* single driving horse) won all three events this weekend. Yet that was not so obvious for Marijke after the marathon. “It all just has to happen in the cones”, she said on Saturday. “A ball falls quickly.” But with a double clear round that was not the case today. She thus increased her lead over Jan de Boer to 17.97 penalty points. Tinne Bax (BEL) finished in third place.

Melanie van de Bunt won the dressage, had to take second place in the marathon with 0.62 penalty points difference, but managed to win again in the cones today. Cas Hendriks came in second and AnnekeCremers finished in third place.

Saskia Siebers did not start

Saskia Siebers unfortunately did not start on Sunday in the 3* single driving horse. She was in good shape with her second place, but Axel was not fit. “My horse’s well-being comes first”, she says. “That’s why I decided not tostart today.” Marion Vignaud (FRA) dropped a ball today, but could afford it. She won, followed by LinneaKristiansen (SWE) and Talvikki Järvinen (FIN).

Rudolf Pestman won the cones today with his horse Farell and climbed to fifth place overall. “It’s great to winthe cones in Exloo and Kronenberg, with two different horses!”

On the podium

Stan van Eijk was at the top of the 3* pair driving horses after Saturday’s cones. The marathon dropped him one place in the overall standings. “I put Deniro and Zorac side by side for the first time in the cones and I will also do that in the marathon for the first time”, said Stan van Eijk on Saturday. “I’m going to see how much gaswe can give for each obstacle.” The victory went to Francois Dutilloy (FRA) and Anna de Ronde finished in a very good third place.

The marathon in the 3* single driving ponies was won by Brent Janssen. Thus he climbed to third place in the final standings. This class was won by Cédric Scherrer (SUI), and Katja Berlage (GER) finished second.

With second place finishes in the dressage and marathon for Wybe Kramer (2* pair driving horses) he claimed the overall victory. Loic Rohaut (FRA) finished in second place and Hans Hoens completed the podium.

In the 2* pair driving ponies, Larissa Reints and Jorn van Olst competed. Reints took the longest in themarathon with her grays today and sent Van Olst to second place.

Jur Baijens and Els Broekman claimed second and third place in the 2* single driving ponies. Lucy Scott(GBR) took the win.
