Pleternica 2022: Renewed international competition

The Organizing Committe of the international 2* and 3* Driving competition in Pleternica, Croatia from 24-26 June has made a great deal of investments to renew and modernizine the venue and create a great competition for Drivers, Officials and visitors.

After a two-year break due Covid, the biggest equestrian event in Croatia is going ahead again. The Organizers of the international Driving event in Pleternica have decided to say goodbye to the old marathon course and build a completly new one with seven obstacles. Show director Domagoj Katić: “This is a dream coming true. We are extremely proud of what we have achieved in the last couple of months in terms of building the new obstacles and the whole infrastructure. We hope that the Drivers will be pleased with the new setup, and the modern marathon course.” The obstacles were designed by FEI 3* Course Designer Javier Perez Maqueda from Spain who will also be Course Designer at the CAI Pleternica from 24-26 June 2022.



Not only the marathon course is new, but the OC has also made improvements on the dressage arena, such as lights and better footing. The OC is also planning to do a night show inspired by the indoor World Cup competitions. “The sites of the driver’s camp, the stables and the warm-up arena has also been transformed and improved, so everything will be a lot bigger in Pleternica this year. We are really looking forward to welcoming Drivers from all over the world to our event,” said Katić.

The Driving event in Pleternica is open for 2* and 3* horse and pony single, pairs and four-in-hands as well as Children, Juniors and U25 Drivers. Pleternica is a great opportunity to compete for Youth Drivers who are preparing for the FEI Driving European Championships for Youth in Kisbér-Ászár, Hungary, from 17-21 August 2022, as well as the other FEI Championships taking place this year.

The judges panel in Pleternica will be led by Marie de Ronde-Oudemans (NED) for the 3* and Miguel Angel Gutierrez Camarillo (ESP) for the 2*, and will be completed by Marie-Pierre Bruneel (FRA), Ad van Roon (NED) and Pia Skar (DEN). The course will be designed by Javier Perez Maqueda (ESP) who will be designing five obstacles for the children, 6 for the Juniors and Young Drivers and 2* categories and 7 obstacles for the 3* divisions. Joaquín Medina García (ESP) will be the Technical Delegate of the event.
