Evi Vandersmissen died after a serious accident at CAN Linden
Sunday July 10th we announced that a serious accident had happened at the national competition in Linden, Belgium. It concerned Sven Tinlot and his wife and groom Evi Vandersmissen.For unknown reasons, the pony Victorious bolted on Sunday. The accident did not happen in an obstacle. The driver and groom were thrown from the carriage and were both immediately taken to the hospital. Evi later died there from her injuries. She was the groom on the back of the carriage.
Sven has had surgery on a few fractures, but his life is not in danger.
After the accident, the competition was immediately ended. Sven and Evi both wore helmets and body protectors and are both very experienced. The pony is not injured.
One year ago we published an article about their Haflinger pony Kitty, that Sven received as a present from Evi. The two were a very successful combination. Evi competed with Kitty in Linden last weekend.
We wish Sven a good recovery and we wish him and family and friends a lot of strength with this enormous loss.
