Successful FEI course for driving officials in Lipica
More than 20 judges, stewards, course designers, and observers from 10 different countries took part in the official FEI course for driving officials. The course was held on the beautiful grounds of the Lipizzaner stud in Lipica, Slovenia.Good discussions
Led by course leaders Andrew Counsell, Martin Röske and Jeroen Houterman, the officials first participated in a joint session, in which the emphasis was placed on the horsefriendliness of our sport and the well-being of the horses. Then the groups were split up so that the officials could concentrate on their specific tasks. There were many good discussions in a pleasant atmosphere.
Lots of practice
Before and after the theory sections, the course designers made good use of the marathon obstacles in Lipica and designed a cones course that was then built up in the main arena under the watchful eye of Jeroen Houterman.
The Lipizzaner Stud had provided a Lipizzaner dressage horse and a team of Lipizzaners for the jury course. The team was driven by the experienced Hungarian driver István Vaczi. The Italian driver Jozsef Dibak and the Austrian Karl Cvörnjek drove a number of FEI dressage tests with a single horse, a pair of horses and a pair of ponies, which were judged jointly by the judges led by Andrew Counsell.
The stewards also benefited from the efforts, with Martin Röske giving the students instructions on what to pay attention to.
The course in Lipica was also organized for the Technical Delegates, but unfortunately the FEI decided to cancel this course due to too few participants. The social and networking aspect of the course was paramount during this weekend.
Nations cup
This year there will be no international competition in Lipica due to the overcrowded competition calendar, but from 26 to 29 September 2024, for the first time in the history of Slovenian driving, a Nations cup for horse pairs (CAIO4*-H2) will take place in Lipica.
