Everyone on the Same Page at FEI Courses in Baborówko

From Jan. 7 to 12, four courses for FEI officials took place in Baborówko, Poland. Course leaders were Joaquin Medina Garcia (for the Technical Delegate and Jury course), Martin Röske (Steward) and Johan Jacobs (Course designer).

From The Netherlands, Hanne-Louise de Koning (Course designer) and Nicole Vos (Jury) were present as participants. Hanne-Louise promoted from Level 1 to Level 2 and Nicoline was there for the course content. She has done her course for ‘maintenance’ before and did not desire to promote.

“It was a very successful weekend,” Hanne-Louise informs Hoefnet. “The intention is that Govert de Koning and I will build the international competition in Gaasterland this year. We were both Level 1, but if we promote to Level 2 we won’t need an extra course designer in that week. Then the two of us can do the competition.”

There will be FEI courses for officials from March 12-16 in Deurne and from December 4-7 in Lamotte Beuvron, France. “I find it very fun and interesting, those courses. Therefore, I try to be present at as many occasions as possible. For example, in Baborówko I found it very valuable to have seen the location there, to have worked with the materials there and to meet new people. I’m also going to Deurne in March, but that’s more of a bonus for me. Govert is planning to Level up there, I am confident that he will succeed!”

Thinking about one solution

Many interesting cases were discussed, among the course designers as well as the judges, technical delegates and stewards. In addition, several difficult issues were also presented within the four different ‘departments’, so that one correct solution could be thought about together. “Very good, because during your work at the competitions you also have to cooperate with each other. It is very important to know what certain situations or choices of yourself can mean for the other departments. It was a super valuable weekend, it was top arranged and high level content”, concludes Hanne-Louise de Koning.
