Aachen 2023: Minimal difference between Chester Weber and Boyd Exell

It was very exciting today in the dressage ring of the Four-in-Hands in Aachen. The difference between number one and two was less than 0.10 penalty point. Chester Weber (USA) came out on top with his score of 38.85. It is the very first time that Chester managed to win in Aachen.

The test of the number two, Boyd Exell, was judged with seven hundredth penalty point more. He scored 38.92 penalty points. Third and fourth place went to the ‘Chardons’. IJsbrand finished third with 42.38 and Bram just missed the podium with 48.38 penalty points. Germany’s Mareike Harm finished fifth with a score of 49.11.

Now that the dressage is over, the first part of the Nations Cup has been held. The Dutch team, which consists of Bram Chardon, IJsbrand Chardon and Koos de Ronde, is in the lead. They won the Nations Cup seventeen times before. Boyd Exell and Tor van den Berge form team Australia and, partly thanks to Tor’s dressage score of 54.04, are in second place in the Nations Cup. The German team completes the podium of the standings.

The marathon is scheduled for Saturday. This was built for the very first time by course designer Alexander Flocke. Read more about him joining CHIO Aachen here.
