CAI Exloo: Exciting final during final day
The final day of CAI Exloo 2025 was dominated by the cones, where precision and control determined the final wins. The great atmosphere and clever performances made for an impressive conclusion to this important international competition. The pony classes and two-horse classes showed their class on their way to the World Championships.Highlights of the competition
Ophelie Vegterlo wins pony pairs 2*
Ophelie Vegterlo proved her class by grabbing overall victory in the pony pair 2* class with her ponies Goldsberg’s Calvin and Templedruid Santi. By staying clear and leaving behind her competitor Lonneke van den Eijnden, who incurred 9.18 penalty points, she became the convincing winner.
Andreas Bollingerfehr and Lui 86 in top form
German Andreas Bollingerfehr did not relinquish victory after his superb marathon ride. With only 4.91 penalty points in the cones he won the pony single 2* category. Lianne Bosma finished second with Brownstables Ultimo Boss.
Ingmar Veneman triumphs in Para Driving
Ingmar Veneman from Drenthe had an excellent competition and managed to perform consistently with her horse Siglavy Linada. This earned her victory in this class.
Saskia Siebers wins with Noxander
In the horse single 2* class Saskia Siebers put down a strong performance with her 7-year-old horse Noxander. With only 2.87 penalties for time overrun, she won the competition ahead of France’s Julien Delorme with Aleja de Mesenguy.
Saskia was very enthusiastic about the surface of the dressage and cones arena. The marathon was nice and fine for the horses with plenty of alternatives, so there was something for everyone. Saskia had a super competition with her two 7-year-old horses. She was glad she had two to drive, because she could use the flow of the first horse for her second horse or test adjustments right away. “I felt like I drove two competitions in one,” said a reeling Saskia Siebers.
Anna Christmann grows to final victory
Although Sweden’s Elise Strauss and Sir James won the cones today, France’s Anna Christmann with Unic Eye D’Ihia performed better every day. Her strong performance earned her the overall victory in the single-horse pony 3* class.
Rowan Timmer and Jelmer Chardon take the win
Rowan Timmer did not relinquish victory after a fast marathon and won the pony pair 3* class with Matcho and Tumtum. Jelmer Chardon was supreme in the horse pair 2* class, finishing strongest all day.
Dream debut for Anne Okkema
Anne Okkema experienced a fantastic international debut in Exloo. After a strong dressage test, an excellent marathon and a flawless round in the cones course he convincingly won the horse teams 2* category.
Marijke Hammink dominates pony teams 3*
Reigning World Champion Marijke Hammink confirmed her status by winning all parts of the competition. With a clear and tight skill, her final victory in the pony teams 3* class was a fact.
Marijke looks back on the weekend with satisfaction, “It was a super organized competition, we were able to ride three fine sections. I had a new pony with me in the dressage and marathon and this worked out super. We look back on the weekend very satisfied!”
Dutch success in horse pairs 3*
Erik Evers won the cones with Impuls and Nero, while Stan van Eijk was second with Deniro and Don Briano. Thanks to his consistent performance, Van Eijk eventually won the overall victory in this strong class.
Tony Ecalle and Edwin van der Graaf close with a win
Despite two fallen balls in the cones, Tony Ecalle with Kensington managed to take the overall victory in horse single 3* thanks to his excellent dressage and marathon results. In the horse teams 3* class, the overall victory went to Edwin van der Graaf, after a third place in the dressage, a second place in the marathon and a win in the cones on Sunday.
