Ermelo: dressage victory for Fumagalli
Today was the second dressage day at the international combined driving event at the National Equestrian Centre in Ermelo(NED). Single ponies, pony teams, horse pairs and horse teams presented their dressage tests today in cold but dry weather.
Claudio Fumagalli (ITA) performed an excellent test and won by the pairs with a score of 32,38 penalty points.
He did a great test, the horses worked really well together and clearly showed the differences between various paces. Riny Rutjens (NED) finished second, 12 points behind Fumagalli, ahead of his compatriot Antonie ter Harmsel.
Reigning Dutch Champion Marissa Schuiling won the dressage in the single pony class, followed by Yvonne de Ruyter (NED) with just a small difference. Tamara Pijl, who is competing with two ponies in her class finished on the third and sixth place.
Two-time four-in-hand pony World Champion and four-time Dutch Champion Bram Chardon won the dressage in the national pony team class.
Tinne Bax put down the best dressage test by the international pony teams and won ahead of Jannes Kinds (NED).
Spanish four-in-hand driver Juan Antonio Real Garcia surprisingly won the dressage in his class where Mareike Harm (GER) finished second.
Tomorrow is the marathon on the programme with five obstacles for the drivers to complete.
