High quality at FEI courses Deurne

Last weekend an FEI course for driving officials (judges, stewards, technical delegates and course designers) was organized in Deurne. This course was for both maintenance and promotion.

Everyone who planned to promote succeeded. In addition, the quality of the participating drivers was high. Names like Marijke Hammink, Stan van Eijk. Kelly Bruder, Edwin van der Graaf and Lotte Zaaijer had been willing to present their horses/ponies for the judges.

“We find it important that the judges see things that are worth a ten as well as things that might be better. Important for them to know what is meant to be shown, so you can have good quality discussions,” the organization let Hoefnet know afterwards.

In practiced, among other things, with the FEI Measuring tool for the noseband. They were taught how to use it. The course of the course designers ran through Friday, but the remaining attendees stayed longer to observe and test the new cone construction with the present drivers.

“During the test, we placed wooden blocks underneath the cones. The aim is to prevent the cones from shifting slightly on sand due to sand pushing them out a bit on the inside, as well as to tackle the problem with the rubber wheels of carriages. Because the cones are a bit above the ground, there is no way they will come under the edge of rounded rubber of a wheel. The construction seemed to work well last weekend, but whether and how this will be implemented further will be discussed and decided later by the FEI.”
