From 13 to 16 August, driving enthousiasts will once again be able to enjoy international sport in the Netherlands. The competition will take place at the Exloo Equestrian Centre and will follow the strict Covid-19 guidelines set forth by the RIVM. Exloo will be the first official combined driving competition in the Netherlands since lockdown began.Platform for all drivers
When the initial competition had to be cancelled at the end of March due to Covid-19, the organization behind Exloo went searching for alternative dates in the opportunity arose to hold events again.
“When it was announced that equestrian sport events could be held again with limited spectators, we immediately got to work to see if organizing a competition in Exloo in such short a short time period was even possible. The positive decisions made by the FEI to hold the four-in-hand World Championships in Valkenswaard in October and the single horse World Championships in France the end October definitely played a role in the decision to organize the competition in Exloo,” tells Lieuwe Koopmans from the organization. “We wanted to give the drivers the chance to prepare for these World Championships in Exloo, but non-World Championship classes are also more than welcome as well.”
