Costs of official FEI pony measurement will increase next year

Measurement rules apply to ponies that are competed internationally. These rules were established by the international equestrian association FEI. In practice, this means that a pony may only compete internationally if it has been measured correctly.

For ponies that have not yet been officially measured according to FEI regulations or whose temporary FEI measurement certificate has expired, there will be an official FEI pony measurement on October 7 at the National Equestrian Center in Ermelo. Are you a driver and are you thinking about competing internationally next year? Then have your pony measured now. There will be no more measurement sessions in the Netherlands this season. Measuring can then only be done abroad. There will be official FEI measurement sessions this year on 23 September in Aix-en-Provence (France), 7 October in Ermelo (Netherlands) and 9 November in Gutenhof, Himberg (Austria). Exceptions

The FEI has included a number of exceptions in the regulations. From January 1, 2022, ponies that are measured during an FEI pony measurement and are not taller than 140 cm without shoes/141 cm with shoes and are between 6 and 8 years old will also receive an FEI Lifetime Measuring Certificate. These ponies therefore only need to be measured once. This rule only applies since January 1, 2022, but unfortunately not retroactively. Annual measurements are therefore mandatory for larger ponies between 6 and 8 years old.

From January 1, 2023, an exception will also apply for ponies that participate in international driving competitions, so that starting in a CAI1*/CAI2*/CAI3* has become easier. See the explanation in the image below, or go to page 65 of the FEI Veterinary Rules.
