Leipzig 2019: Close win for Boyd Exell
Boyd Exell won the 9th leg of the FEI World Cup™ Driving this afternoon in Leipzig after a very close battle with Bram Chardon. Jérôme Voutaz finished in third place.Boyd Exell

Boyd: “I came out of obstacle 2 and turned too tight to the bridge, so I lost my nice line and rhythm onto the bridge. When I had the second ball down I just accelerated.”
Boyd was the only one who drove a different line in the drive-off which brought him around 4,5 seconds and this was just enough to secure his win in Leipzig.
Disappointing result for IJsbrand Chardon who lost a lot of time when he nearly took a wrong gate in the marathon obstacle. Chardon managed to reverse his team and avoided 20 penalty seconds, but was unable to make up for it.
Chester Weber and Koos de Ronde missed the drive-off by just a second. For Chester this meant he finished in fifth place, but he also missed his starting ticket for the Final. Both Exell and Voutaz competed with a wild card and were not entitled for World Cup points. Bram Chardon thus knew before the drive-off that he was certain to win 10 World Cup points. If Weber had qualified for the drive-off instead of Bram, he would have won these points and he would have finished on the sixth place in the standings. Glenn Geerts now remained on this sixth position and he will travel to Bordeaux at the start of February.
