Pau: Miguel Gutierrez is the overall winner
Leader of the standings after dressage and cones Miguel Gutierrez held on to his first position in the marathon and was declared overall winner of the CAIO4* for Horse Pairs in Pau. His opponent Harrie Verstappen attacked in the last phase of the competition, but was unable to make up the 28 seconds he was behind on Gutierrez.
As he expected yesterday, Gutierrez had to give way to Verstappen in the marathon, but performed very well and was able to hold on to his first place.
Best French performance was put down bt Frédéric Bousquet, who finished second in the marathon and secured his third place in the combined competition.
With Stan van Eijk on the fourth place and third Dutch team member Ton Vreugdenhil in fifth, the Dutch team clearly won the Nations Cup, ahead of Spain and France.
