Pau: Verstappen in the lead
The heavy rainstorm had just passed by the time the first driver entered the dressage arena this afternoon in Pau. Harrie Verstappen (NED) was first to drive today and presented the best dressage test out of the 11 pair drivers.
The sand arena of the Domaine de Sers was still slippery when Verstappen drove in, but the former World Champion put down a nice test and the five-member international jury awarded him with the first place. British driver James Broome drove his pair of KWPN horses to the second place, ahead of Miguel Gutierrez (ESP) on the third place.
The Netherlands leads the nations competition, ahead of Great Britain and Spain.
Tomorrow at 17.15 the drivers will complete the cones competition in the main arena. The marathon will be on Sunday.
