Stockholm: Flying start for Eriksson
He could not have wished for a better start of his last international competition; Sweden’s Tomas Eriksson has won the first competition of the FEI World Cup™ Driving at the Sweden International Horse Show in Stockholm this evening.
International course designer Dan Henriksson from Sweden had designed a long course in the brand new Friends arena, just outside of Stockholm. First starter Eriksson was the only one who passed the finish line without any knockdowns and won with a lead of over two seconds to reigning FEI World Cup Champion Boyd Exell. Exell did put down the fastest time, but knocked two balls down and finished on the second place, ahead of Glenn Geerts from Belgium who drove a very steady round.
The fourth place was taken by Fredrik Persson from Sweden, while Werner Ulrich from Switzerland finished on the fifth place.
Bronze medallist of the 2014 World Equestrian Games Theo Timmerman competed with a new team of Lipizzaner horses but lost precious seconds after taking the wrong route and three knock downs, which dropped him to the sixth place.
