Topolcianky: Carola Diener wins the dressage

The second day at the World Pairs in Topolcianky delivered a new leader and winner. Title defender Carola Diener withstood the pressure, showed a very good test and won the first phase oft he World Championships, ahead of Barry Capstick.

Zoltan Lazar finished third with only very little difference tot he German individual driver Sebastian Warneck. Misdee Wrigley-Miller passed Vilmos Lazar in the standings. Georg Moser put down the best Austrian performance in eighth position behind the second German team driver Thorsten Zarembowicz. Beat Schenk was the best Swiss driver and drove his new pair to the 18th place. The 2009 World Champion Harrie Verstappen was the best Dutch driver in 22nd position.

Fourteen drivers remained until the 50-penalty points limit, which proofed the high level of dressage.

Germany is in the lead oft he nations competition, closely followed by Hungary. Ireland is in third with over 10 points difference, ahead oft he USA and Austria. Switzerland is in 9th place and title defender The Netherlands in 11th position with over 15 points difference to the leader.

Tomorrow’s marathon can be called demanding with 8 obstacles, designed by O-Course Designer Gábor Fintha (HUN), who is responsible for the course at a World Championship fort he first time in his career.
