Fábiánsebestyén: Marathon causes shifts in standings
The international driving competition in Fábiánsebestyén continued today with the marathon. Drivers proved their marathon skills through seven obstacles designed by level 4 Course Designer Gábor Fintha (HUN). The weather conditions made today’s competition even more difficult as it was raining all day long making the ground very wet.
For safety reasons, section A was taken out from the marathon and later on, for the horse teams, obstacle number three was also not used anymore because of the slippery footing in the obstacle.
After a less satisfying dressage on Thursday by Karl Cvörnjek (AUT), he won the marathon phase today and took over the lead from Zsófia Kovács (HUN).
German pony four-in-hand driver Jaqueline Walter won the marathon today, competing for the first time with the former ponies of Mia Allo. She is followed by Dávid Palkovics (HUN) on the second place.
2014’s Hungarian Champion in the single horse class, Gábor Rondzik was the best today and is currently on the first place after two days.
Zoltán Lázár performed a great marathon and maintained his lead in the pairs class with his second pair, but he decided not to start in the marathon today because of the weather conditions with his first pair. His brother Vilmos Lázár did not start either. József Dobrovitz jr. won the marathon by the pairs driving smooth and fast through the seven obstacles. After finishing fifth in dressage, Sandro Koalick (GER) came fifth in marathon as well and he is on the third position at the moment after two days.
József Dobrovitz triumphed today in the four-in-hand class, taking over the lead from József Dobrovitz jr. who is on the second place within one point behind his father. Werner Ulrich (SUI) is still third followed by Ludwig Weinmayr (GER).
Tomorrow the cones starts at 9.00hrs, which promises to be a very exciting final day at Fábiánsebestyén.
